THIS IS A CME 85, A DRILL RIG MADE MAINLY TO DRILL WITH HOLLOW STEM AUGER, THO MANY ADAPTATIONS HAVE BEEN MADE SO THAT IT CAN PERFORM A PLETHERA OF DRILLING FUNCTIONS SUCH AS MUD ROTARY, DIRECT PUSH, HYDROPUNCH,AND CONTINUOUS CORE. |
|
THIS IS MY CURRENT RIG WITH C&C DRILLING,INC. IT'S A FOREMOST/MOBILE B-61 H.D.X. ON A FORD CHASSIS |
THIS IS A Driltech D40K, IT'S SET UP FOR DRILLING IN ROCK QUARRIES WITH A PNUEMATIC DOWN THE HOLE HAMMER. THAT PLACE IN THE BACK IS WHERE THE OPERATOR SITS IN A/C-HEATED CONFORT WHILE THE RIG DRILLS. YOU CAN TOWER UP OR DOWN AND MOVE THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT HOLE ALL WHILE SITTING IN THE BUBBLE. | THIS IS A BIG PILE OF 8" AUGERS STORED FOR FUTURE USE IN THE YARD. |
These are 6" augers all washed and ready to get dirty. They are sitting on the internal rack of a CME75 type drill rig |
This is me and a geologist, we're (I'm) developing a 60' 6inch well that I set, just moments beforehand. Those are 12 inch HSA starring at you. |
|
|
THESE ARE 18" AUGERS, SOME OF THE LARGEST SUCH ANIMALS I'VE SEEN. MY RAIDER HAT IS SITTING ON THEM FOR PERSPECTIVE. AS YOU WOULD THINK, THEY ARE QUITE HEAVY, BUT THE 10" EXTRA HEAVY DUTY H.S.A. ARE EVEN HEAVIER. EITHER WAY, I'D HATE TO HAVE TO LOAD THEM BY HAND INTO THE BACK OF A TRUCK. THE AMOUND OF CUTTINGS THESE BRUTES WOULD PRODUCE WOULD HAVE ME AND MY HELPER SHOVELING LIKE MAD MEN. |
THESE ARE WHAT YOU USE FOR CONTINUOUS CORE SAMPLE RETRIEVAL. THEY ARE HELD IN PLACE BY "HEX ROD". |
THESE HEX RODS KEEP THE CONT. CORE BARRELS FROM TURNING WITH THE AUGER, SO THAT A PATTERN OF SAMPLES WILL REVEAL THE FLOW OF THE GROUND, WHICH WAY IS UPHILL AND SUCH. A KNOWLEGABLE GEOLOGIST CAN DETERMINE IF A LAYER OF CLAY IS GOING UP OR DOWN. |
THE MAN TO THE LEFT IS STAGING WELL MATERIALS TO LOAD ONTO THE CHASE TRUCK. THE DRILLERS ARE GOING TO SET MONITORING WELLS SO THAT THE GEOLOGISTS OR ENGINEERS MAY MONITOR THE CONTAMINATION OR THE PROGRESS OF REMEDIATION ON THE SITE. |
THESE ARE ADAPTERS, OR BONNETS, THAT ALLOW THE SAME MACHINE TO USE DIFFERENT SIZES OF AUGERS OR TYPES OF AUGERS. |
THIS IS A L.A.R. (limited access rig), IT'S MADE TO GO PLACES A LARGER DRILLING RIG CAN'T GO. THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PALM SPRINGS GOLF COURSE. A LARGER RIG WOULD HAVE TORE UP THE GRASS AND THEN NO ONE WOULD BE HAPPY. AS IT WERE, THIS LITTLE THING NAVIGATED ALONG THE GOLF CART TRACKS WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE GRASS. |
THIS IS WHAT DRILLING IN TOXIC WASTES FOR 20 YRS WILL DO FOR YA. THE GEO SAID SOMETHING ABOUT TESTING THE WATER, TO WHICH JEFF SAID, "TASTES GOOD TO ME!" |
THIS IS ONE OF THE PRETTIEST COASTS I'VE SEEN. YOU SEE ALL KINDS OF PLACES BECAUSE PEOPLE NEED HOLES EVERYWHERE. THIS WAS TAKEN, YOU GUESSED IT, RIGHT ON THE 101 IN VENTURA |
THERE ARE PICTURES OF A 1.5" SPT SAMPLER. THE ONE IS TAKEN APART SO YOU CAN SEE HOW IT GOES TOGETHER. | |
THESE ARE PRACTICALLY THE ONLY BITS I'VE SEEN A C&C DRILLING. THEY WORK PRETTY WELL, EXCEPT NOTHING REALLY WORKS WELL IN CLAY. | THESE ARE MY LEVERS THAT I USE TO OPERATE THE DRILL. THERE'S A STAND UNDER IT, BUT IT'S USED MAINLY TO HOLD ALL OF MY CRAP I NEED TO DRILL. I USED PAINTSHOP TO LETTER THE PANEL FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE. |
WHERE ELSE CAN YOU MAKE A MESS LIKE THIS AND NOT GET YELLED AT? HERE A GEOLOGIST AND I (I'M ON THE STAND) ARE "DEVELOPING" A 6" WELL THAT I HAD SET AND HOUR AGO. THAT MEANS I STICK A PLUNGER DOWN THE WELL PAST WATER LEVEL AND SUCK THE FINES OUT OF THE SCREEN HOLES, AND THEN BAIL THE DIRTY WATER OUT. SORT OF CLEAN IT UP |
